Cole Outlines Manufacturing Strategy

Press Release

Date: June 7, 2016
Location: Charleston, WV
Issues: Energy

Republican Gubernatorial candidate Bill Cole spoke at the Polymer Alliance Zone yesterday and outlined a manufacturing strategy to grow jobs in West Virginia. The event was the group's annual meeting where both major party candidates were invited to attend.

Bill Cole told the group, "West Virginia has always been an energy producing state, and the key to West Virginia getting out of our economic slump is to harness and develop our natural gas industry. A prosperous natural gas industry means more jobs in West Virginia and affordable energy for businesses -- especially manufacturing businesses."

Cole built off of this to outline his four step plan to grow manufacturing jobs:

1) Leverage our abundant natural gas reserves to produce affordable energy and get it to market.

2) Work to attract businesses that fit West Virginia. Ranger Scientific recently announced that it intends to build a state of the art manufacturing plant in Kanawha County because of our location and access to a willing workforce.

3) Continue to get government out of the way. The legislature has not only rolled back regulations that stifle economic growth and job creation, they enacted legislation that will allow companies here to compete and West Virginia to compete with other state's in attracting new jobs. The Workplace Freedom Bill sends a loud message that West Virginia is Open for Business.

4) Rethink the way we train our workers for the jobs of today by focusing our efforts on making sure we have a well educated, well trained workforce.

Cole went on to tell the attendees, "Every West Virginian needs access to the information, education and skills required to get and keep a job. And, every West Virginia business needs access to an educated and skilled workforce necessary to compete successfully in the global economy and to keep and grow jobs in right here in West Virginia."

Bill Cole has been endorsed by the West Virginians for Manufacturing Jobs PAC for his leadership fighting for the manufacturing industry in West Virginia.
